Nicole Restani, a South Florida native, began her pre-professional training at Dillard Center for the Arts Magnet High School and later continued her studies at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance where she completed her BFA and Minor in Economics, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2010. She has performed works by Carolyn Dorfman, Joszef Hajzer, Isadora Duncan, Kazuko Hirabayashi, Jose Limon, Robert Moses, Pam Tanowitz, Paul Taylor, and Twyla Tharp. She has had the pleasure of dancing with The Shadow Box Theater and IsadoraNow throughout the NYC boroughs, Dance Now! in Miami, Jubilee Dance Theater throughout Spain, and with Stephan Koplowitz in Spoleto, Italy, as well as studying and performing abroad in Taipei, Taiwan and Burgos, Spain. She is a current member of Michael Mao Dance and Dusan Tynek Dance Theater and enjoys freelancing with an array of choreographers in NYC such as MADArt Creative , Jordana Toback and Danny Soto. She is a proud founding member of the Brooklyn-based Hoover Dam Collective and is Pilates mat certified. As of recent, Nicole has tapped her toes in the commercial world as a dancer in the feature film Lily and Kat, assistant choreographer for a Uniqlo commercial and as an actress in a Budweiser commercial.
In collaboration with Kristin Draucker and Marielis Garcia, Nicole created Chimera Project, a multi-medium arts collaboration who premiered its first show at LaMama Umbria, Italy in August 2014.
Lastly, Nicole enjoys sharing her love of dance with movers and groovers of different ages within various disciplines. In 2014 she had the opportunity to help build curriculum for a middle school outreach arts program for the Mark Morris Dance Center and has since also joined the Arts Education team at New York City Ballet. She loves bringing dance to the public schools of Brooklyn.
Nicole is a fan of laughter, the plants in her home, and dark chocolate with almonds.
